Friday the 13th

We decided to take Friday easy by walking all over town.

First a trip down to Atocha to buy the tickets for our next day trip. From there off to the Salamanca neighborhood to window shop and rub elbows with the wealthy and well-heeled Madrileños. A walk through Madrid’s biggest park – the Retiro – and then lunch at Starbucks. Back up through the Las Huertas neighborhood, home to many of Spain’s greatest authors including Cervantes. A stop at a shop for Churros and Chocolate and then an hour spent wasted trying to find the best Flamenco restaurant in the country. Ice cream, a rest and then dinner – cochnillo – the roast suckling pig of the region. One last stop for ponche at San Miguel and time to call it a day.
